Kahanuola was given a birthday choice of going down to the beach or going on the boat!! The end result was to launch a couple of boats and head for the Palaau House which is a little house about a quarter mile outside of the island on the reef where fisherman can stay overnight while their traps and nets have been laid. On Nov. 17th, Kahanu's birthday, the ohana boarded the boats and it was as great fun day

Here is the Palaau House. On both sides of the house, there are channels of deep water for the boats to come in. But lots of shallow water next to the house for the ohana to play in and sit on chairs. |

The shallow water was perfect for both sitting and active playing by the keikis...

It was such a beautiful, calm and low tide day. The tide was so low that one of the boats motors hit the stones and popped off the boat and into the water and needed to be towed back. But even under tow, we were throwing ice and water bags at each other and having so much fun.
I enjoyed my birthday and I thank my mom, dad, aunties, uncles, cousins and friends for coming to share my special day with me.
